Southern Cross Stud specialises in producing and selling world class dressage horses. Owned by Jules and Jill Walker and set in the beautiful North Downs in Kent, Southern Cross Stud has over 70 horses. These include foals, young stock, State Premium brood mares, and horses competing at advanced levels across Europe.
Conformation, Movement and Temperament
Southern Cross Stud strongly believes in the importance of proven dam lines as well as those of its chosen sires. Working closely with their German partners, the Stud focuses on producing horses with conformation, movement and temperaments suited to the demands of dressage training right through to Grand Prix.
Southern Cross Stud also believes that whilst fine bloodlines and correct training can lead to success, true champions are borne of a partnership with the most appropriate rider and will try to ensure horse and rider are entirely suited to each other.
Success through International Partnerships
Through their partnerships with international Grand Prix riders Wolfram and Brigitte Wittig in Germany and Anna Ross Davies in the UK, Southern Cross have been enjoying significant success. Some of Southern Cross’ own mares are currently proving themselves on the competition circuit before commencing their breeding career; and 2012 saw a number triumphantly combining the two via embryo transfer. Southern Cross Stud’s young stallion, Baron de Ley, qualified for the finals of the 2010 and 2011 Bundeschampionate, and is now enjoying success at PSG.
