Cloudy Bay

Amazing, outstanding, sophisticated and desirable, just some of the words frequently used to describe the wine that he was named after, Cloudy Bay is so far living up to his name!   Born in 2008, he is a dark bay Hannoverian gelding by Charatan W out of Berita.  Cloudy has inherited his mother's outstanding temperament and is super trainable.  He is now in training with international Grand Prix rider Anna Ross Davies.

Cloudy Bay's father is Charatan W who has enjoyed international success at Grand Prix.  He is by Consul, who is a legendary supplier of sport and breeding horses.  His offspring included many outstanding stallions (e.g. E.H. Rockefeller), champion mares (his Hanoverian daughter Cleopatra produced the champion Don Frederico, and also the Olympic Gold medalist Bonaparte is out of a Consul-daughter), and exceptional performance horses at all disciplines and levels (e.g. Crisp, Olympic dressage in 2004 in Athens). 

Cloudy Bay's mother is the charming Berita, who recently won a Shearwater Young Dressage Horse 5 year old class.  Berita’s father Breitling is currently number one in the German breeding index and is known for producing quality yet trainable offspring who include several licensed sons such as Berkeley, Benvenuto, Bertoli, Brioni and our own Baron de Ley as well as hugely successful competition horses such as Balderassini, Biagotti and Blind Date. For further information please see Breitling’s page in our Sires section.  Berita’s mother is Rollata who is by Regazzoni, himself by the great dressage stallion Rubenstein out of the notable Werther mare Wakonda. In 1994 Regazzoni was the 100 day Performance Test Champion scoring 10’s for rideability and disposition and 9 for his trot. Regazzoni is the sire of 13 licensed stallions and competed to FEI level himself, also becoming the 1995 Federal Vice-Champion German Riding Horse in Warendorf and winning the finals of the German 5 Year Old Dressage Championships in 1996.  As you continue back in Berita's pedigree you will find Grand Prix horse after Grand Prix horse.
