Connery

Connery is a Premium Trakehner Stallion who in the eyes of Dr Burchard Bade (Cell State Stud Director), is a picture perfect example of a refined Trakehner stallion, a perfect match for those Hannoverian mares that lacked that certain something often referred to as “modern”.  Connery was a three-time participant in the Federal Championships and under Katrin Poll was victorious up to advanced level, he is now partnered with Anna -Sophie Fiebelkorn.

He comes from the highly successful dam line of Corrida.  His mother is Caro-Dame II out of Cornau who is a maternal half sister to Consul, who is a legendary producer of sports and breeding horses with an excellent reputation.   In addition Cornau also produced the highly decorated daughter Corna who won the Bundeschampionate and then went on to Grand Prix.  The sire of Caro Dame, Karo As was the only approved Trakehner son of the tremendously successful TB Vollkorn xx.  Vollkorn xx, standing at stud in the Oldenburg breeding region of Germany, has sired many outstanding daughters with surprising substance and powerful movement for half TBs, and is also the sire of the Otto Ackermann's famous international Three Day Eventing stallion Volturno.  Vollkorn's dam Vogelwarte xx was out of the dam of another highly influential TB stallion in Oldenburg: Vierzehnender xx!  Karo As had very few coverings in the Trakehner world and soon left Germany for Switzerland.  From his small crops, the breed got a number of outstanding mares.

Connery’s sire is by Buddenbrock who is by EH Sixtus out of SPS+ES Ballerina by Diamant-Burnus AAH.  Buddenbrock was approved out of Sixtus' first foal crop in Neumünster and quietly started his career at Gestüt Hörem in Lower-Saxony.  His first stallion crop in Neumünster came with a big bang, and out of his first year, the champion King Arthur and Connery were approved. Buddenbrock qualified for the Bundeschampionship in eventing but his unlimited demand at stud cut his promising career short.  The sire of Buddenbrock was the Elite Stallion Sixtus, who was by far the most important among Habicht’s sixteen graded sons. An eye-catching black standing at 16.1 hands, his career started at the grading where he was awarded a premium and was named best jumper of the year. As a six-year-old Sixtus went into training with Gilbert Boeckmann who qualified him for the World Young Jumping Horse championships in Zangersheide.  With a total of more than 50 placings in 1.40 metre classes and four wins, Sixtus is something special in the Trakehner breed.  His jumping index based on the scores the offspring received at mare inspections, horseshows and gradings is 138 points – no other Trakehner stallion was able to come close to that in the past decade. Sixtus seems to know of his outstanding position – he’s a male diva so to speak.

In assessments throughout Germany foals by Connery have regularly scored top marks for type and gaits, including the highest rated filly in the Trakehner Studbook.  In the stallion approvals of recent years, Connery has constantly caused a stir. He already has seven approved sons including the two  reserve champions Imperio and Editorial.  In addition, Connery has delivered numerous show champions and top mares from different breeding areas. This is particularly impressive as these results have been based on a small number of coverings.  His progeny appear to have inherited Connery’s powerful presence, this is underlined by the recent championship successes of Chapeau Claque and Imperio. Connery has also proved to be an impressive sire of event horses.
