Drambuie

We are over joyed with Drambuie, Barracuda's first foal who is by the stallion Don Ricoss.  She is elegant and moves beautifully so we are looking forward to watching her develop.  She is proving to be relaxed and friendly and takes everything in her stride.

 

Drambuie's father Don Ricoss is a modern young dressage stallion, equipped with three first-class paces and outstanding character, trainability & attitude to work. He has had a superb competition career so far, including winning Vice Champion Hanoverian stallion at the World Championships, Champion at his licensing and 30 day Test Champion. His foals have shown to have inherited his elegance and three very good paces and have been very successful at foal shows in the UK, France & Germany taking Champion and Vice Champion titles as well as several top placings. Don Ricoss is ranked 2nd in the 2009 BEF Dressage Sire Rankings with 100% Elite or First Premium progeny for the second year running. Drambuie's mother Barracuda is a striking KWPN mare. She has three fabulous paces charecterised by their suspension, cadence and engagement. She combines the best of German and Dutch breeding and was described as “the perfect dressage horse” by judges commenting on her bloodlines. Barracuda’s father is Paul Schockemohle’s flagship stallion Sandro Hit. He has an outstanding breeding record and founded a new dressage horse breeding dynasty, his foals have consistently attracted very high bids at practically all auctions, though the all-time record auction price of EUR 2.5 million is still held by two-time Bundeschampion, Poetin.  For more information on Sandro Hit please see his page in our Sires section.  Barracuda’s mother Tiara is by the stallion Metall whose offspring inherit his stunning conformation, and a high degree of quality and refinement.  They are built very uphill and have beautiful heads.  Their movements show great finesse with much power in the hind legs, lots of elevation in the front legs, and they have supple backs.  Her maternal Grandfather is Balzflug who is bred out of the best performance bloodlines in the Trakehner Studbook. His sire Habicht is noted as one of the most influential sires of excellent dressage ability, having produced many nationally ranked top mares and several approved stallions including Olympic Cocktail.   Having bred three super foals Tiara has now changed career and despite her late start is training successfully with Andrew Gould.
