Ulysses SC

Wow!  Well this stunning black colt was certainly worth the wait.  He is tall, elegant and a beautiful modern type.  At one day old on his first time in the paddock he was already showing that he had inherited some of his famous father's flamboyance.  This foal truly is a cut above, we can't wait to see how he develops.

Uthopia is outstanding in his type and demonstrates magnificent paces combined with a fantastic temperament. His sire “Metall”, the son of Olympic Ferro achieved the highest grading marks for his birth year and is well known for producing quality & refined offspring. Uthopia has inherited his immaculate conformation, intelligence and best of all, his trainability. His uphill build, powerful hind, supple back and beautiful elevation result in his huge movement that seems to have got everyone talking.  Relatively new to Grand prix, his last 8 outings have been plus 80% with an average 82.5% at the European Championships where he blasted onto the scene beating Totillas an amazing 3 times, gaining the highest overall score in the team competition and coming home with a gold and two silver medals. It is rare to see this combination of pure power with relaxation and lightness and it is so refreshing to see his rider Carl Hester drop the reins at the final halt and watch Uti stretch down and calmly leave the arena. It is a tribute to both Carl and the horse to watch them enjoy the prize giving's and laps of honour so often avoided by more tense or nervous horses.  Carl says:

"His temperament is simply fantastic. I even gave him a day off between the team and the special as I know I can trust him completely. The amazing thing is, there is more to come from this horse! He just wants to keep offering more!" (Rotterdam Europeans 2011)

Lavirca, herself a State Premium mare comes from a pedigree showing successful mares on both sides with many being State Premium or Elite.  In Germany she has already produced a State Premium daughter and a stallion who was a price highlight at auction.  Lavirca's father Royal Diamond had the perfect career: 1996 I-f premium stallion, 1997 stallion performance test winner, 1998 I-b main premium winner, 1999 Vice Bundeschampion in the class for five-year old dressage horses under Lisa M. Wilcox, 2000 Bundeschampion in the class for six-year old dressage horses and VTV Dressage Stallion of the Year. He then placed twice in the Final of the Burg Pokal, won the " Promising Stallion" award in Zwolle and proceeded to win 40 dressage classes up to Grand Prix.  Royal Diamond has also had a successful breeding career which may be unsurprising given his heritage being a Rubinstein son and full brother of Rohdiamant.  His son, Royal Deniro, Vice State Champion, had a price tag of 320.000 Euros, Royal Milva however, managed to beat this and was knocked down for 380,000 Euros.  Seven sons were licensed and a State Premium was awarded to 15 of Royal Diamond's daughters.

Lavirca's mother the State Premium mare La Traviata, is a full sister to Sandro Hit the phenomenal jet black stallion whose first rate offspring easily sell for prices in excess of EUR 100,000 year after year. In 2009, Starlight sold at auction for EUR 170,000, though the all-time record auction price of EUR 2.5 million is still held by two-time Bundeschampion, Poetin, followed by EUR 700,000 for the Hanover champion stallion Soliman de Hus. Sandro Hit has produced ten Bundeschampions to date and Sancisco, the VTV Dressage Stallion 2009, has already won 40 advanced dressage classes up to Grand Prix level. Salieri OLD, who is ridden by Victoria Max-Theurer, is also one of the Grand Prix winners by Sandro Hit. In 2009, Sandro Hit's son Sarkozy won the Hanover Riding Horse Championship and took the Vice Bundeschampion title. Sandro Hit's progeny and their offspring all pass on his excellent genes and this jet black stallion has influenced dressage horse breeding probably more than any other stallion in the world over recent years. Sandro Hit's foals have consistently attracted very high bids at practically all auctions. La Traviata's dam, Loretta, is one of the most successful breeding mares in the world. She has produced three approved stallions in total, Sandro Hit, Grand Prix winner Diamond Hit and Royal Hit.  Maternal grandsire, Ramino, was five times Italian Show Jumping Champion and Welt As produced Anky van Grunsven's Olympic gold medal winning horse, Bonfire.
