Ichiban

Ichiban (meaning number one or first in Japanese) is Brindabella’s first foal, and is by the 2008 Bundeschampion Imperio.   She is a stunning bay filly and we are sure that she will live up to her name!  Her father Imperio, although still young himself, has already had a glittering career both as a sport horse and a sire of dressage horses. His achievements include: • Reserve champion of Trakehner Licensing 2005 • Bundeschampion finalist 2007 • Bundeschampion and Reserve Champion of the World Championships for young Dressage Horses in 2008 • Bronze medalist at the World Championships 2009 • Two colts licensed at the Trakehner Licensing 2009 from his first crop of foals. Ichiban's mother Brindabella is by Breitling who is currently number one in the German breeding index and is known for producing quality yet trainable offspring who include several licensed sons, including our own Baron de Ley, as well as hugely successful competition horses such as Balderassini, Biagotti and Blind Date.  For further information please see Breitling’s page in our Sires section.

 

Brindabella’s dam sire Blue Hors Cavan made his fame as an international Grand prix horse under Lars Petersen and Andreas Helgstrand. He claimed 49 victories at the Grand Prix level and became four time Danish Dressage Champion. He won 8 World Cup Qualifiers and placed second in the 2002 World Cup Finals. Sadly he was castrated following a testicular hernia in 2000.  Brindabella’s Grandmother Summer Breeze is by Paul Schockemohle’s flagship stallion Sandro Hit.  He has an outstanding breeding record and founded a new dressage horse breeding dynasty, his foals have consistently attracted very high bids at practically all auctions, though the all-time record auction price of EUR 2.5 million is still held by two-time Bundeschampion, Poetin.  For more information on Sandro Hit please see his page in our Sires section.
